RockFoxie 0.70

RockFoxie 0.70 TRIF - is a closed cabin scooter-tricycle built on base of standard scooter's engine+variator block and front-forks.

Idea

Russian rules of the road allowed to ride 50сс scooters and mopeds with 2 or 3 wheels below 450kg of mass & 50km/h max speed without registration and driving license until 2013. We were wishing to use the possibility to create upgraded scooter to be used up all the year including winter conditions. So we had such requirements as:

3 wheels according the reversed trike scheme

closed cabin

suspension, engine & transmission of standard 50cc scooter

Taking this points as the base we started projection

RF 2.02 Construction

RockFoxie could be characterized by simple decisions and usage of standard spare parts and details. Here we show general construction elements affecting the look of the car.

RF 2.02 Design

RockFoxie 2.02 idea is based on these general principles:

Simple shapes

Manufacturability

Standard spare parts

Design is following the same principles. Graphically 2.02 continues the idea set in 3d sketch 2.01 but with greater detalization and more specified dimensions and forms of standard parts.

Open Projection

Open Projection is the general principle of all "RockFoxie" brand projects. Open Projection is based on 3 main ideas:

100% project files are free for sharing;

all files are free for use of any type;

each project stage to be deeply described.

The most important target of the project RockFoxie 2 is real prototype creation. That's why the "natural experiments" will be performed in the same time with 3d modeling to define real dimensions & mounting positions of standard spare parts. The logical result is correction of 3d model according real sizing and release of next 2.03 version.

Secondary target - is creation of trustful 3d models of the standard vehicle components in real dimensions. Models like this could be useful for car modelers, for those who want to build ones' own spotive self-made cars or for car tuners. During the modeling process we shall have the full 3d base containing all the details we shall use.

Files sharing. AUTODESK 360 - nice and free of charge service allowing to share .dwg files, organize common work (that's even more important) & view the 3d models via on-line and mobile versions.

RockFoxie 2.02

RockFoxie 2.02 - is the track-day car. We don't plan its usage on common roads, trailer will deliver it to the racing track. That's why it doesn't need certification. It's too early now to speak about quantity of cars to be built, but 1 prototype should be made at least. First production stage is the design-project. This stage passed as usual. But for the beginning of second stage we'd came with unexpected even for us conception of "Open Projection"
